Brie Cheese & Fig Galette

Brie cheese wrapped in puff pastry and filled with thinly sliced ripe juicy figs is the ultimate appetizer to serve up for any fall get together. It is crispy, buttery, flaky and delicious paired with a glass of red wine.

If you haven’t heard, it is baked brie season! & I love serving this appetizer up going into fall. Fig season is a short one so enjoy this while you can! It is easy to make, requires minimal ingredients and it always a hit. Fresh ripe figs, are juicy, sweet with floral earthy notes which pairs perfectly with a creamy earthy cheese like brie. It is an appetizer that looks super impressive and like you spent hours making it in the kitchen but it is actually really easy to make. It comes together in under 20 minutes and can be prepared ahead of time (which really helps if you are serving it for a dinner party). People always wonder how to use fresh figs in recipes and THIS is the one you start with! 🧀

Ingredients for Brie cheese & fig Galette

This appetizer requires only a few ingredients and has all the flavors of the fall season wrapped into one crispy buttery flaky galette. It’s the perfect appetizer to make when hosting people over. Gather the ingredients below and this will take you under 20 minutes to make in total!

  • brie cheese

  • puff pastry

  • figs

  • honey

  • egg

  • fresh thyme (garnish)

Quality of brie cheese matters! I always recommend using a brie cheese that is French- brie cheese originated in France so if it is French you know it’s creamy, has notes of mushroom and will melt really well! When melted, the cheaper brie cheeses can often pool with oil which means they aren’t the best quality and stuffed with fillers & additives. When making baked brie, spend a little bit more on the cheese to make sure it’s a quality one.

TIP: cut your fig slices thin, I find that they fit better in the galette and taste delicious like this!

TIP: drizzle the honey on AFTER this bakes! If you bake honey it becomes very liquidy and watery. It’s always best to put on after for a garnish to keep its original form.

This is what your galette should look like before going into the oven.

You want to leave an opening in the middle for the galette and brie cheese to breathe and cook evenly while it bakes
