Cheese & Crispy Proscuitto Galette

Imagine melty cheese and crispy prosciutto wrapped in puff pastry and topped with warm honey. It truly is the ultimate appetizer to serve up for any holiday get together. It is crispy, buttery, flaky and delicious paired with a glass of bubbly! You will have this appetizer on repeat!

If you haven’t heard, it is CHEESE season! & I love serving this appetizer up all holiday season long. It is a fantastic way to make use of any leftover cheese you have in your cheese drawer. Think about that charcuterie board you served up the night before and have stuffed the leftovers in your fridge cheese drawer. Take those out of the cheese drawer and make THIS! ! It is easy to make, requires minimal ingredients and always a hit. An appetizer that looks super impressive and like you spent hours making it in the kitchen but it is actually really easy to make. It comes together in under 20 minutes and can be prepared ahead of time (which really helps if you are serving it for a dinner party)🧀

Ingredients for cheese & crispy prosciutto Galette

This appetizer requires only a few ingredients and has all the flavors of the holiday season wrapped into one crispy buttery flaky pastry. It’s the perfect appetizer to make when hosting people over. Gather the ingredients below and this will take you under 20 minutes to make in total!

🧀 puff pastry sheet

🧀 any leftover cheese (I used Gruyère, aged cheddar & havarti)

🧀 prosciutto or salami

🧀 egg wash

🧀 honey drizzle

🧀 fresh rosemary garnish

For leftover cheeses, you can use any you’d like for this appetizer but if you want really good melty cheeses I suggest any of the following: brie, raclette, mozzarella, gruyere, cheddar, Swiss, gouda, provolone. Hopefully this helps to guide you for what cheeses to use!

To make crispy prosciutto all you need to do is crips up slices for 7 min in the oven at 400 F. It is that easy! and the slices of proscuitto come out so crispy. Anytime I have leftover prosciutto from a charcuterie board this is what I love to do to it and add in salads, pasta dishes, or a cheesy appetizer like this one!

When is comes to pairing wine with an appetizer or what you are serving up this holiday season on the dinner table, when in doubt GO WITH PROSECCO! Because it is light, crisp, bubbly and acidic it pairs well with everything on your dinner table.

I love going with Bread and Butter Prosecco- it’s such an easy drinking wine and well priced at under $20! Truly I always have bottles on hand (and chilled) whenever people come over, especially during the holiday season.

TIP: drizzle the honey on AFTER this bakes! If you bake honey it becomes very liquidy and watery. It’s always best to put on after for a garnish to keep its original form.

This is what your galette should look like before going into the oven.

You want to leave an opening in the middle for the galette and cheese to breathe and cook evenly while it bakes

  4. Add any cheese cubes you have in your cheese drawer in the middle of your puff pastry sheet, along with some crispy prosciutto and rosemary on top
