Ingredients for flower pot charcuterie cups

This appetizer requires minimal ingredients and you can add in anything you’d like - think seasonal items or if you are having a themed party to include like color items. You can add in cheese, charcuterie, a honey stick, fruit, dried fruit, nuts, chocolate, grapes, veggies, a vegetable dip- I like to top mine with a flower or herb garnish for the finishing touch. Here I added in baby’s breath flowers for a garnish which really pulled the flower pot together!

Here’s a list of ingredients that I used to make mine:

  • Walnuts

  • Crackers

  • Gouda cheese

  • Salami

  • Provolone cheese

  • Grapes

  • Strawberries

  • Baby’s breath flowers (garnish)

  • Fresh thyme (garnish)

To make the salami and cheese rose- The KEY to getting this flower right is to use thinly sliced provolone cheese- either look for it in the package at the grocery store or get it thinly sliced by the deli counter.

For crackers, I like to add in a long cracker to add some height to the charcuterie cup. I love these ones by Firehook Crackers as they have different flavors to choose from.

I used these 3 “ terra cotta flower pots for the charcuterie pot cup. You can also purchase these at Michaels but I found that Amazon had the best deal for them, especially if you want a lot of them for a party appetizer.

Flower Pot Charcuterie Cups

A beautiful way to serve cheese & charcuterie this spring is in these flower pot charcuterie cups! These hand held appetizers are easy for guests to grab and snack on and have sweet and savory bites inside. Great for any Spring or Summer get togethers!

Ingredients

  • Walnuts
  • Crackers
  • 6 oz Gouda cheese
  • 8 oz Salami
  • 6 oz thinly sliced provolone cheese
  • Grapes
  • Strawberries
  • Baby’s breath flowers (garnish-optional)
  • Fresh thyme (garnish- optional)

Instructions

  1. Place all your charcuterie pots down and add in one item at a time to each pot to ensure you don't miss any food items.
  2. Making a charcuterie cup is easy! Add in your smallest food item first and then add in the bigger ones to fill in the cup
  3. First add in your walnuts
  4. Then add in your long cracker, gouda cheese triangle slice and grapes
  5. Create your charcuterie flower using two pieces of salami folded in Hal and a piece of round provolone cheese cut in half. The KEY to getting this flower right is to use thinly sliced provolone cheese- either look for it in the package at the grocery store or get it thinly sliced by the deli counter.
  6. Fold the two slices of salami in half then lay down one slice. Layer a slice of half provolone cheese on top, another slice of salami and another slice of half provolone cheese. Add into a fancy hors d'oeuvres skewer and if you want the flower to be bigger and more full you can always add an extra slice of salami on the outside of the flower.
  7. Add the salami and provolone cheese flower skewer into the charcuterie pot. with half a strawberry on the skewer too.
  8. Finally, add in your garnish which can be a flower or fresh thyme (I added in both!)
  9. Serve right away OR to keep fresh put all the assembled charcuterie pots in a big foil container like this and cover them with a damp piece of paper towel for up to 24 hours. This will keep everything fresh!
  10. If you are looking to make these ahead of time, what I like to do is assemble all of the skewers and cover them overnight and then day of the event, I will assemble and make them all so they are extra fresh. Making the skewers ahead of time really is a time saver!
